Just then, a young woman named Tania quickly walks past his room, looking concerned. She sees Wade and stops abruptly.
Tania: Can I come in?
Wade is startled: Sure.
Tania runs in and goes into the bathroom as if she is hiding. Wade walks out to the open sliding glass doors to look at what might be the problem. A young man walks past hurriedly.
Young man: Did you see a girl rushing past here?
Wade: I did. She was going in that direction, as Wade points the direction she was heading.
Young man: Thanks. I'm Tim, by the way. Might catch up with you later. Gotta run. Off he goes.
Wade goes back to the bathroom: What's the problem? Is the guy Tim hassling you?
Tania: Oh, no. He's just... very persistent when he wants something. Thanks for rescuing me.
Wade: You looked almost scared. How about an explanation?
Tania: Can you close the front sliding doors and pull the curtains?
Wade: I did. She was going in that direction, as Wade points the direction she was heading.
Young man: Thanks. I'm Tim, by the way. Might catch up with you later. Gotta run. Off he goes.

Tania: Can you close the front sliding doors and pull the curtains?
Wade obliges and they sit at a small dining table.
Tania: I did something really silly and he's using it against me, that's all.
Wade: That sounds unpleasant. What sort of thing, if you don't mind me asking?
Tania lowers her head: I don't want to say.
Wade: Can you tell your parents? I assume they're here.
Tania: They're on an excursion right now, but no, I can't tell them. They wouldn't understand.
Wade: You need to confide in someone, and I will understand.
Tania: Promise you will?
Wade: Promise.
Tania: Tim and I met at the bar in the hotel last night. We had fun together and after a few drinks he dared me to send some pictures to him. Not the sort my parents would be happy with.
Wade: Did you?
Tania: I went back to my room and yes, I foolishly did. She hangs her head. Stupid, I know but I had drunk a bit too much. Today I went to him and told him I didn't want anything more to do with him and to delete the pics. He said he wouldn't, and now he's following me around as if he owns me.
Wade: What you did was foolish, but the drink lowered your inhibitions. I get it, but still very wrong.
Tania: You sound like my parents!
Wade: Seeing as you don't want to inform your parents, I'll see what I can do. You can stay in our suite for now if you want. You can watch TV or read a magazine from the pile over there.
Tania: Thanks.

Wade walks around the complex until he sees Tim still in pursuit.
Wade: How about a couple of rounds of drinks?
Tim: Why not? I can't find that girl anywhere.
Wade: How about a couple of rounds of drinks?
Tim: Why not? I can't find that girl anywhere.
Wade: I see you bought the same shirt from the hotel shop that I did.
Tim: In fairness, they were on special, lol.
Wade insists on buying the first round. They then are seated and chat. Wade is wondering how to raise the subject of Tania and the pics. He notices Tim keeps checking his phone.

Wade: A new phone? It looks nice.
Tim: Yeah, just bought it last week.
Wade: I have an old phone, but the same brand. Mind if I have a look?
Tim: Sure.
Wade takes the phone and looks it over: Do you mind getting the next round, Tim?
Tim: No problem.
As he walks off, Wade quickly accesses the pics and deletes them permanently, then puts the phone down nonchalantly. Tim arrives back.
Wade: Thanks for the drink. I might get a phone like yours soon.
Tim: Yeah, just bought it last week.

They chat a bit longer, and then Wade heads back to his room. Tania looks up hopefully.
Wade nods affirmatively: Sorted.
Tania: How?
Wade: Let's just say Tim's phone had a little glitch.
Tania: Oh, thank goodness and thank you!
Wade: You have to be much more careful in future. What goes out into the digital world can be impossible to control.
Tania: I will and yes, it could have become an extreme embarrassment.
Wade: Here come my folks. There with another couple I don't recognise. Must have become friendly on the excursion.
Tania looks out: They're my parents!
Wade: Wow, what a coincidence.
The parents come in and are delighted that Wade and Tania have met. The grown ups had earlier decided to have dinner together tonight, so the younguns are invited.
They go to the restaurant and have a nice meal together. The parents head back to their rooms but the sun sets late in summer, so Wade and Tania don't want to end the day just yet. They decide to have an evening swim and chat by the pool edge. Tim sees them and comes over.

Tim: I've been looking for you Tania. He looks at Wade. No offence Wade, but Tania and I have an arrangement, and we're heading to the bar. Get dressed Tania, and I'll see you there.
Wade: No offence Tim, but our families are close and Tania wants to stay here and chat with me.
Tim looks at Wade, then back to Tania: She really does want to come with me, don't you Tania? He looks at her knowingly.
Tania: I want to spend some time with Wade, but thanks anyway.
Tim looks annoyed: Have it your way. He glares at Tania and sits down nearby on a lounger chair and pulls out his phone in an exaggerated way, glancing back to Tania with a smirk.
Tania whispers: You did delete them, Wade?
Wade smiles kindly back: Let's see his reaction.

Tim stares at the screen and then his thumbs start twitching as he searches frantically. He looks over to Tania with a frown. Wade and Tania can barely stop themselves from bursting into laughter. Tim walks away and for the rest of the vacation keeps away from Tania. He doesn't seem to realise what Wade did.
The vacation comes to an end. The Turner and Smith families meet up.
Wade's dad, Mr Turner: Seeing we live only a hundred miles away from you back home, your family must come and stay with us soon. Our house isn't flash, but it's big, so we can accommodate you all.
Tania's mom, Mrs Smith: We'd love to. Maybe next month?
Mrs Turner: It's a deal. Turning to the Tania, you will come too, will you?
Tania smiles at Wade and then back to his mom: I wouldn't miss it.
Mr Tuner: You two kids should exchange phone numbers and text.
Wade: Thank you for suggesting it..but they already had.

They all hug and go their separate ways in their cars.
Mrs Turner to Wade: Tania seems a nice girl. So sensible. I couldn't imagine her doing anything outrageous or foolish like so many young ones do today.
Wade smiles: I have no doubt about her in that regard.
